Bandcamp is the last stand for digital music to actually support the artists who make it. Pirate at will, but remember to kick a little back to the people who enrich your life with their noises as well. Every week on Bandcamp Picks of the Week, we round up some releases that just might be worth that spare change rattling around inside your PayPal account. Give these folks a listen, and a little of your cash if you’re feeling so inclined.

Pale Dian – DESCENDANT

Genre: Noisepop, Shoegaze

Favorite Tracks: “Descendent Of,” “Judas Tree”

Everybody needs a warm walk in the sunshine sometimes, and this EP works as the auditory equivalent. If you’re stuck behind a desk, in a car, or perhaps a very small submarine with a group of surly Russians, and have little hope of seeing the sun anytime in the near future, this EP should be a nice burst to get you through your day. Richly textured and expansively laid out, this Pale Dian creates a perfect bed of fuzz for you to lay your head on and relax to. Fans of Slowdive and Pinkshinyultrablast should feel especially at home here. Crossfader’s own regular contributor Micha Knauer has released two lovely collections of singles from their new project Heartmother. Intensely emotional and personal, wandering and experimental, this release would get a recommendation even if Michae didn’t write for us. Give it a listen, let yourself get lost in the spiraling, vast landscapes they create, and it will be well worth your while. Dikembe – LIVE AT LOOSEY’S (PUNK TALKS BENEFIT)

Genre: Midwest Emo

Genuine and kind-hearted emo trio Dikembe hail from Gainsville, Florida and have churned out a number of solid releases on Bandcamp. This week they dropped this great live EP, something modern music as a whole could desperately use more of. Even better, the proceeds from this particular release go entirely to the charity Punk Talks, a mental health resource for musicians and artists attempting to create within the sphere of DIY/punk scenes. Carter Moon grew up in the desolate Evangelic capital of the world and responded by developing a taste in counter culture, which eventually bloomed into a love for filmmaking and screenwriting. Carter has average opinions on most things, but will defend them adamantly and loudly until no one else wants to bother speaking up. He runs Crossfader's podcast, IN THE CROSSHAIRS.
